I met Lori my first week at North Jr High, while trying to put on my new gym suit without my (totally unnecessary) brand new bra shifting. She was a lifesaver. I went home telling my mom about my new friend with beautiful frosted hair! We found & nurtured the Invisible String that keeps people close at heart, even when miles apart. Five years ago, Lori began a series of medical issues that kept her in a wheelchair & in pain much of the time. Her attitude was mostly grateful, because "it could always be worse". She worked hard to live her life as "normal" as possible, enjoying a glass of bubbly, a great meal & the company of friends & family. Her last trip to the ER was when she' d had enough, and was ready to let go. With JB at her side, he called and we said our goodbyes. We’re still together, it's just different. Xoxo
My parents bought a house on Pinehurst in 1964, before I turned 10. Brenda lived down the street and my mom worked with her dad at Collins Radio. She was my first friend, and showed me around and introduced me to her friends. We use to sneak out together in Jr. High, to go sit with the boys rolling papers for their paper routes. We pulled weeds for neighbors, to earn money, and picked up coke bottle so we could cash them in at Dean’s Quickie. Then we’d go next door and order french fries at Alexander’s Ice Cream Parlor, and play the jukebox. So many great times. You’ll always live on in my memories. Rest In Peace, friend.
